Meet Shamira Buhura Wallace – Co-Owner of Fledglings Educare Centre
Shamira Buhura Wallace, co-owner of Fledglings Educare Centre, has an inspiring story rooted in resilience and a lifelong dedication to personal growth. Born in Uganda to Rwandan parents who were refugees from the first Rwandan genocide, she grew up with strong family values and a passion for community. Shamira pursued her love for working with children by obtaining early childhood training in Uganda, Rwanda, Singapore, the USA, and England, giving her a global perspective on early childhood. Before moving to Canada eight years ago with her husband and four children, Shamira had a distinguished career in Rwanda as a kindergarten teacher and later as a school principal at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. Her leadership and creativity in education continue to shape the Fledglings Educare Centre into an inclusive, nurturing, and culturally rich space for families.
Shamira firmly believes that every child is unique and develops at their own pace, and this philosophy is reflected in the programs at Fledglings. A family-oriented person, she treasures time with her husband, children, and granddaughter and enjoys walking with her golden retriever, Bella, after a long day. Her love for travel and learning about different cultures inspires her to incorporate global traditions, storytelling, and music into the center’s curriculum, fostering a sense of belonging and diversity. Shamira’s dedication to building community and supporting families ensures that Fledglings Educare Centre is a welcoming space where every child can thrive.
